Add GST, or pull it back out of a total.

Start from an amount before tax, or from a bill that already includes GST. Choose the rate and whether the sale is inside the state or across states. CGST, SGST, and IGST are shown separately.

How to use GST calculator

  1. 1. Choose add or remove

Add GST when you have the taxable value. Remove GST when the amount on the bill already includes tax.

  2. 2. Set the rate and the place

Pick 5, 12, 18, or 28 percent, or type another rate. Intra-state sales split the tax into CGST and SGST. Inter-state sales are IGST.

  3. 3. Read the breakup

Taxable value, tax, and total are shown together. Round the invoice the way your billing software already does.

Exclusive and inclusive amounts

An exclusive amount of ₹10,000 at 18% becomes ₹1,800 tax and ₹11,800 total. The same ₹11,800 inclusive amount comes back to a taxable value of ₹10,000. Removing GST divides the total by 1 plus the rate, then subtracts to find the tax.

CGST, SGST, and IGST

A sale inside one state splits the GST rate in half: 18% is 9% CGST and 9% SGST. A sale to another state is the full rate as IGST. This calculator does not decide which one applies. The place of supply does.

Rates change. The sum does not.

The preset rates are the ones people still type into a GST calculator. If a notification moves an item to another slab, type that rate. The page does not look up HSN codes.

Questions

How do I remove GST from a total?

Choose Remove GST, enter the inclusive amount, and set the rate. Taxable value = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100).

How is CGST and SGST split?

For an intra-state sale the tax is divided equally. At 18%, each of CGST and SGST is 9% of the taxable value.

Can I use a rate other than 5, 12, 18, and 28?

Yes. Choose Custom and type the percentage.

Does this file a GST return?

No. It only splits one amount. Returns, input credit, and e-invoices belong in your billing system.
